Bombarding rain slams into the window panes.
The heavens clash together in a mighty roar,
In answer, sirens fill the darkened sky.
Sideways bombarding rain slams into the window panes,
Piercing my thoughts, and holding me hostage
Behind its watery, tear-streaked bars.

Angry flashes of light shoot through the
blackened charcoal clouds.
While the shrill blaring of car horns
Fight for attention.

The lily pads in the turbulent water remain bare,
Not even the frogs have come out of hiding.
A flashing red light swings above an empty crossroad.

The golden orb fights to shine its light.
The revving of a motorcycle's engine
Sounds out of place, as much as
The sun's rays look out of place in the
black wetness of the town streets.

With the showers now lightly falling,
I hear the calling of a mockingbird.
My soul lifts as I gaze outside,
And spot a rainbow sharing its
promise and hope.
