My favorite superstition: what if you miss out wishing on a falling star?
A hail of sparks
burning across the glittering sky
falling, falling
into the depths of night
to be swallowed whole.

A streaking, sunblazed comet
running from interstellar immigration,
glistening like a wet slug
shot out of a cannon,
mummified in a jubilee of diamonds
and lit up for the whole world to see!

Starlight, star bright,
swirling in the oil pan of time
I give you my dreams to take with you,
packing my wishes in match luggage
booking passage on your ride
through the vanilla abstract
of christmas lights
before you wink out of time.
