When he walked away, I almost died...

I remember,
it was almost Christmas.
The lights were lit,
the carols were being sung.
I stood in his embrace,
trying to make it last.

I knew,
that he would walk away,
soon...

I leaned back,
and tried to listen
to everything he was saying.

I pretended,
that I wasn't going to cry.
He had his reasons,
and I couldn't
force him to stay.

He whispered goodbye...
and i simply nodded,
I couldn't say it back
i wasn't ready to let him go.

Slowly he pulled away...
and I didn't want to turn around.
I couldn't bear
to see him leaving me.

I remember,
It was almost Christmas,
the lights were lit
the christmas carols were being sung,
and I was silently crying...
as the man I loved walked away.
