Peace in spring and summer
Summer Time

Once again the ground opens up
To allow earth’s foliage to push through.
Fragrant scents fill the air
As summertime draws near.
It’s time to go outdoors
And enjoy all that is fair.
To look upon the waters,
The beaches and parks,
And walk the woodland paths
While listening to the shrill
Of little creatures, birds and the like,
A reminder that we are all
In God’s redeeming grace.
Let's sing a happy song
While remembering a passed friend,
And appreciate our short stay
Here on this earth,
And give it all our loving worth.
Through all this think of those amongst us
Who have not known the joys that we envision,
But thrash about in war and strive.
They live in constant dread and fear
With invading images floating in their heads.
They do not share the wonders of spring
And the days of a carefree summer.
Blessed are those who endure
And pray for peace.
