This is a poem I wrote for some of my best friends.
I’m telling you this now
Incase I don’t get my chance
Tomorrow is a mystery
And this is too important to forget
You’re my friend
Always have been, always will
But what my future holds
May not be a thrill
Your friendship is too important
Through all that we’ve been through
To forget that all the while,
I might never have said ‘Thank you’
So just incase I don’t see you
Or just incase I never get around to it,
Let me tell you how I feel now, ahead of time.

You’re my friend
And you make everyday a little brighter
You’re my friend
And the darkness of the world seems a little lighter.
You’re my friend
And you’ve proven that laughter is great for healing
You’re my friend
Never hesitating to share in the emotions that I’m feeling.
You’re my friend
And you’ll always have a shoulder to cry on
You’re my friend
You’re the ‘high’ that I get by on

So whether I see you once in a while
Or every single day
Know that this is serious
And that in some way,
You’ve played an important part in my life
And helped me through,
A time in my life where I wasn’t sure
Just what I was going to do.
So even though I’ve been a little depressed,
And sometimes I’m as gloomy as they come,
I just wanted to tell you this
Before my time is done.
I’m glad that I’ve met you and shared with you
A little bit of me,
And hopefully this boring poem
Just might help you see
That I appreciate you in every way
Even when I don’t express it
And I owe so much to what you’ve done
Though I tend to repress it
So in conclusion, summing it up,
Thanks for being you
And thanks for letting me know
That being me, is okay too.
