Overcome with a feeling of helplessness, my account of our Nation's Tragic 911

TERROR IN THE SKY

On a bright, blue September morning
Terror in America reigned with no warning
Millions of Americans watched that day
Blood shed would be the price to pay.

At six-thirty a.m. as I watched TV
Disbelief tore at the very heart of me
People screamed and ran in a state of shock
As the Trade Centers collapsed victims hurried from the block.

Like a missile one soared straight for the Pentagon
And their target was hit across the great lawn
The Twin Towers too were gone in a flash
The tall skyscrapers began to crumble and crash

Far away in another country evil men celebrated
As fear and insecurity in the United States escalated
Terrorists hijacked our planes using box cutters and knives
As I clung to my children thanking God for their lives

Families hurried to the scene of pure devastation
As Bin Laden watched in eerie fascination
President Bush sat in deep concentration
The Taliban cheered with glorious gratification

We must rid the world of all of this terror
If they think we won’t fight they’ve made a grave error
The Terrorists themselves were more insidious
And the calamity caused was genuinely hideous

Small children struggle trying to understand
As evil seized the heart of our great land
America is singing and freedom is our song
Retaliation we all hope won’t be that long

As we watched the planes crash into the Twin Towers
Our freedom was attacked by the faceless cowards
Thousands of Americans missing since that day
“It's just collateral damage” is what the Terrorists say.

But after so many Americans died
Our Country as one have openly cried
We must put an end to this horrendous behavior
And Americans unite as we look to our Savior

But we will fight for our freedom
Whether we live or we die
America will never forget
The day of terror in the sky.
