My first attempt at poetry; awarded publication by the U.S. Library of Congress
A cool breeze flows through the window
Raindrops patter on the roof, quiet and calming
Awaiting slumber, the voice of the storm captures my heart

Small droplets fall to the ground, slow and gentle
Pellets of water pounding the earth, harder and faster
With a crash of thunder, torrents pour from the sky
Refreshing nature; renewing creation
Reminding me of the wanton passion of making love
Cravings and caresses, dawning slow and gentle
Bodies and hearts pounding together, harder and faster
With a wave of desire, hungers swell and rhythms mount
Refreshing souls; renewing spirits

A cool breeze flows through the window
Raindrops patter the roof, quiet and calming
Settling into slumber, the heart of the storm captures my dreams
