A piece in time remembering Mom
Mother, I miss you so

I can still see my mother
Walking over to my place
To share waffles and ice cream
That she taught me to make.

And as she sat in my living room chair
With her grandson sitting upon her knee,
Why didn’t I let her know?
How much she meant to me.

I can remember the times
She put aside her daily chores
To listen to the ups and downs
Married life had made for me.

Never a frown upon her face
When I suddenly left the babies in her care,
Just so that I can meet a friend
Or shop the day on a sudden whim.

Did I ever ask her if she had the time to spare?
Or how she felt that very day.
Mother, why didn’t I sense
The ills you had that didn’t show.

And now that you are gone
I’ve gotten along, but I miss you terribly so.
You never got to see
Your darling grandchildren grow.
