Advice to a daughter who wants to leave the nest.

Child of love, born of love
Fighting to be free,
Tries to fly from the nest,
Falling from the tree.

Give your wings time, dear child,
To feather, to grow strong,
Then when skilled, soar away
Fast and wide and long.

Child of love, born of love,
Fighting 'gainst that care,
Touched by those unaware
Of your beauty rare.

Give your heart's faith, dear child,
To another's hand,
Only to one who does
You love and understand.
