Writer's Cramp contest... spring theme written in Villanelle form.


So long, my shining Winter Knight!
It’s been a pleasure… in a way.
Now Spring doth hold my light,

caressing you, with all your spite,
but now I feel I need to say,
So long, my shining Winter Knight!

I’m tired of the daily fight
of your insistent long-term stay.
Now Spring doth hold my light.

A season filled with frigid white,
I welcome warmth upon the day.
So long, my shining Winter Knight!

Your coldness does not have the right
to chase the tender buds away.
Now Spring doth hold my light.

And though my Spring can sometimes bite,
the outcome brings a bright bouquet.
So long, my shining Winter Knight!
Now Spring doth hold my light.
