An odd little poem, I must have been quite depressed.
Why must I be put through such torment?
Every moment, to begin anew
My blessing be cursed- Immortality cast away
For the suffering must end, must end!
Who heaps these tortures on this innocent creature
Who must endure to the end of time
The evils heaped upon her?
Immortality be cursed! Let my gift disperse!
I have nothing but hatred for it.
If I am so blessed as to warrant a gift from the gods
Why must my scar be torn open again?
Why must fresh blood run from my soul again?
Why do the Furies follow me so?
Alecto, I beg thee!
Megaera, I plead with thee!
Tisiphone, I beseech thee!
Scourge me not- I have done no wrong!
Why, Deities, why?
Why must I suffer- and yet not die?
