My thoughts before bed...
I awoke this morning to a world confused.
In a land of promise, from a God abused.
The innocent fight the evil of power misused.
Children ask questions their parents refuse.
People shout and cheer for victory,
That great enigma of history.
Is it all in vain?
Can it ever be the same
As the time before
This war upon us came?
Can we sing sweet joys,
With the same sweet noise?
Knowing of the cost,
And all that we've lost?
Can a heart be healed,
Knowing of a field,
Where bodies lay,
For many a day?
Let us hope it is so,
To God let us pray.
God bless America
And all that we know.
