Two short poems about the ugliness of war
on outstretched wings,
the dove flies free
the strife down below is an illusion
         Look in your heart.
         Peace is love; love is peace.

Helpless,
         the mother wails in misery,
her broken daughter, dead in the muddy ditch.
The young GI, shaking,
         resumes his post.
The desert obliterates the memory
