Years go by, but people are not forgotten.
What Would You Say?

What would you say
If you were still here today
To see our girls grown
Out in the world on their own
So lovely, accomplished and bright
I must have done something right
But sometimes I just wonder
What you would say

What would you think
Would I still get a wink
If you saw me today
Years older, hair gray
You are ageless in my mind
Your smile, large and kind
But sometimes I just wonder
What you would think

How would you feel
Would you know what is real
Or unfulfilled dreams that can never come true
Like us simply sharing a moment or two
We have gone on without you
What else could we do
But sometimes I just wonder
How you would feel

What would you do
If it had been me and not you
If you stood in my shoes
Which path in life would you choose
I often think how our story might have read
If tomorrows had been written into days ahead
Sometimes I just wonder
What you would do

There is a silence
Created by your absence
It is a place where the sound of a violin or the voices of children can not be heard
It is a place where hands can not be held, dreams can not be realized
It is a place where memories over time, become like discolored old photographs quietly fading away
It is a place where a beautiful summer evening sky or the funny shape of a cloud can not be shared
It is so quiet, so dark. And so I stop, think, stop – and move on.
