JUST HOLD ME NOW

While I was looking the other way,
You went and got me a diamond ring
And when I thought you too generous,
You began to be really caring

Then when I fell in love with you,
Your response was starkly daring
You hugged me that day so lovingly,
Your kiss was so unsparing

I gave back what I got,
With not a little bit of tarrying
I had but little time,
To be so passionately appealing

This then is what I gave you,
My heart, so loudly beating
You, my dear, are so far,
But my gift to you, is nearing

Open this letter with love,
Do not throw it away this morning
It has my deepest feelings for you,
My love, quit despairing

We shall meet very soon,
And I am already preparing
For a night full of love,
And hearts of ours, forever pairing.
