I wrote this for my daughter when she was 5 years old.
My Child


Brightly shinning like a star
There she stands ahead so far
Small and young she’s not aware
That life’s hardships, soon to bear
With determined stride quickly she runs
Through life anew, each day that comes
Joys and fears, we face today
Tomorrow, though; love shows the way
The here, the now is gone too fast
I hold on tight to make it last
Time is forever
Tick-tock…tick-tock
