A student in my 8th grade remedial english class wrote his first poem ever.
I sit in the back of the class and look at her
Wondering what’s on her mind
Then she looks back and smiles at me
I can’t help it but I feel she should be mine
But I don’t even know her
And we never even spoke
Because every time I try to say something
I feel like I just choke
But today I feel different
I think today is finally the day
And I’ve thought about it for so long
I know exactly what I wanna say
So I walk over to her
Palms sweaty butterflies in my stomach
What could have gone wrong
Why had I never done it
When I got to her desk
She flipped her hair back and said, “Hi”
And then I poured out my feelings
I can’t deny them so why try
And when I was finished
She just blushed and got red
I thought she was going to walk away
But she just stood up instead
She said that was very sweet
Your words just made my day
And I know I never showed it
But I feel the same way
