A short poem about basic human fears
Afraid

Will I forever stay alone?
Afraid I'll never make it home.
Spiders and things that go bump in the night.
Afraid, I sleep under the light.
Death and the pain and the end is so near.
Afraid I'll miss out on what could've happened here.
Fingers tremble, my body shakes and I begin to scream.
Afraid, realizing things are not what they seem.
Losing control, falling faster, faster, fast.
Afraid to love cause I know it won't last.
Confusion and anger hide my fear.
Afraid of what might happen here.
To trust, to love, to leave the house.
Afraid, Afraid, of a tiny little mouse.
Sick to my stomach, confined to my bed.
Afraid. Afraid. Of the monsters in my head.
