Emotion of the ocean
Ocean waves lull my senses,
sweep humdrum routine away.
Sombre shadows slumber in the depths,
sunsparkles skip across the surface,
Seagulls wheel,
beady eyes a-peel,
as the summer shore slips towards the ebb
of autumn.

Tourists,
and snowbirds,
pack up kids, coolers, blankets,
cram cars to make their reluctant way back
to their inland homes,
or flee with the sweet-throated songbirds
to southern states of perpetual sun...

We remain.

Ocean waves lull my senses
gnash humdrum routine away
with the cold rushing crash
of icy waters on frozen sand.
Mare's tails of creamy white snow
drift and fade into glassy depths.
Steel-bellied clouds scud through jewelled blue,
clasped in a setting of sunbeams.
