I just got sick of watching people, myself included be such hypocrites
You lay yourself down
A sacrifice to whoever
The name doesn't count
As long as it helps keep you together

You don't want to be holy
Just as long as you're whole
You keep todays God in your top pocket
While you bargain for your soul

The charm around your neck
Is nothing but a noose
The angel watching over you
Is a devil on the loose

You fall to your knees
Whenever you fall from grace
Then go and do as you please
Thinking you've just saved a place

When you close your eyes
You see gates of pearl and gold
And all the things that you despise
Become a life that you can hold

It must have been hard to crucify yourself
You drove the nails in without thinking
You did this every single day
But not a single soul was watching

I stand before you one last time
Telling everything I see
I stand before an empty room
I stand talking to me
