a poem for fall
Fall came upon our house today.
Outside the mighty trees wept,
shedding leaves like old lovers
and golden hued boys from the past.
Great orange tears cruised silently,
hunting the lost fire of summer.
Red flags drifted and crumbled,
like battalions of fallen soldiers.
Wind stripped clean the branches,
leaving skeletal limbs,
then rattled windows like bones,
scurrying by on it's way to winter.
