We knew it was coming, but when it happened we weren't prepared
It Happened

We knew it was coming,
But why did it have to be?
He left this world so peacefully.

The call rang in from my dad,
Early the Fall morning.
My mom answer the phone,
Her face turned white.

When she got off the phone,
She went into her room.
She stayed there for many minutes.
When she came out,
Her face filled with sorrow.

She told my sister and I,
That our grandpa just died earlier that day,
I was in shock,
How to react?

I miss him so much,
Never to see him again.
Into the ground he will go.
The ground for eternal sleep.

The day has yet to arrive,
Where we dress in black.
The black for the sorrow and greif,
The only white is for tissues,
Tissues to dry our teary eyes.
