This poem tries to examine the tranquil and sensual aspects of being in love
I need no great oasis
No haughty sanctuary

Because you are constant like the aching memory
Of my younger days
When I swam in flowing waters
Deep enough to drown in
Without fear

I need no oasis
No structures of silence or pity

Because you are certain like a noble and
inevitable fate
I will not live to see
Steadfast enough to withstand
the weight of my doubt
When my faith is collapsing
Without foundation

I need no great oasis
Nor the succor of forgiveness

Because you have smiled and kissed my cheek
Without being asked or paid
Reminding me of days
when my beauty had yet to fade
and I had only to want
and the world would satiate me
without question
