A depressed teen holds a metal rod in a lightning storm, attempting his own demise.
Lightning Rod

by:Devin Barrows

Midnight on a hill,
water pours from the sky.
Everyone's inside,
except for one sad guy.

The darkness is ceased,
as lightning hits the ground.
Followed by the thunder,
that shakes the world around.

But still a boy stands tall,
metal bar held tight.
Pointing at the clouds,
asking for his bolt of light.

The boy began to cry,
for god did not agree.
The lightning would not strike,
or so it seemed to be.

The tears began to dry,
as he began to sin.
cussing at his lord,
for not taking life from him.

When he needed god the most,
he had turned away.
Leaving him with doubts,
forcing him to sway.

He would not drop the bar,
until his life was done.
The hate he had created,
was suited just for one.

Tired of this teen,
god tossed his lightning bolt.
Hitting him direct,
causing quite a jolt.

When he had awaken,
something was amiss,
A beautiful blonde angel,
was giving him a kiss.

She was saving him,
from ending his own life.
Luckily for him,
she was meant to be his wife.

She pulled back her lips,
and looked into his eyes.
"Why did you do it?"
He could not tell her lies.

"I completely understand you,
god just doesn't give!
But now I am here,
a reason for you to live."
