'What burnt out once can never again.'
A Burnt Out Promise by Matt Cresswell

You rose from the ashes of a burnt out flame,
Still oblivious to my pain,
I died for you every day,
But I'm sorry you could never say.

Why do you question what was never there?,
A love that we no longer share,
We tried it once, you had to leave,
when you said I love you I used to believe,

What burnt out once can never again,
These open wounds you can never amend,
I cried blood tears for you I died,
Through your words you had lied,

Now as the smoke disappears,
I sit and cry worthless tears,
Those burning embers will never fade,
From my mind you never stray.
