Poem in memory of my uncle who died young
You left this world before your time,
Holding true to the saying--
"Only the good die young".
You were the sunshine and warmth of our lives.
Without you, our world became dark, cold and meaningless.
I was ready to go to war with the sun, until a wise man told me to
Do battle with something more my size.

I now have faith that you watch over me as a guardian angel.
Else, how did I make it home the weeks following your passing?
I have no recollection of the drive 'cept for my starting and ending points.

Your first Earthly visit was the Thanksgiving after your passing.
All of the family was gathered in the foyer with you standing in the center.
No one else seemed to notice you standing there,
But when I stood up from my perch on the stairs,
You were there no more.
Was the visit for my eyes only, since my heart was still grieving?

You still frequently grace us with your presence through our dreams.
For this is your way of informing us that you are doing well,
'Til the day we leave our Earthly abodes and join you for eternity.
