Cold
Folding
Protection
Against the cold
Deep snows and bitter winds, winters onslaught

Spring
Sunlight
Warmth beckons
Unfolding leaves
Uncurled, searching, reaching forth for new birth

Warm
Life is
Beginning
Buds spill color
Upon the uncurled leaves, a moment done

Sun
Growth is
Nourishment
Life continues
Until summer’s wane, until fall does fade.

Cold
Folding
Protection
Against the cold
Deep snows and bitter winds, winters onslaught
