the last snowflake of winter
A swirling white snowflake descends,
the final gasp of Old Man Winter's icy breath.
I watch it fall, silently beckoning with its crystalline fingertips,
"Come out to play!"

The window frosts over as I see my daughter catch a snowflake on her tongue.
I smile, shivering at the back door.
My boots on, I run out to dance with the last snowflake of winter.
