Birthday gift to Dia...first poem I've written in a while.
I wrote this for you, the words that I’d say
It’s because that I knew, I couldn’t be there today
This day that is yours when your life did start
And ever you come so close to my heart
I never know what to make of with you
This truest of songs is ever so true
The one who inspires, the one to desire,
The one who inflames my heart
Whenever my words come closer to you,
         We’re never that far apart
Your song is a dance and I’ve learned it well
So sure that I was I’d be lost in your spell
Never to rhyme, to risk, or to reason
But gifts have a way of parting the season
And skies that have opened on heads newborn
Are thanked by the children of all the day’s scorn
And it’s a gift not worth so much now
Maybe someday I’ll be famous somehow
Then you can say his words there are mine
And sing in a voice that’s always in time
Come rain, or come snow, or come sickness in bed
I’ll never get your song out of my head.
