Shadows

The shadows from
the towering clouds
create cloaks of shade
across the trees.
The orchard shivers
beneath the sudden chill
as the sun hides its face,
withdrawing its warmth.
Sage warning sound
around the land,
telling all to gather
loved ones near,
to be held close
by arms of love.
Days of laughter, joy
leave much too soon.
People must enjoy
happiness before
it melts under tears
of pounding rain.
