The Bassist

I don't talk much
Why should you hear?
I'll only loosen up
When I'm soaked with beer.

I always play second
But never on stage
When I put on my bass
I bust through my cage.

My fingers fly fast
On every solo
If I feel good
That's how you'll know.

But I don't flaunt
I'm a laid-back man
On fellow bassists
I'll never slam.

My music's real
A scale descends
With each low strum
Th' passion never ends.
