A poem about equality.
                   Scales

I am the space between the mask and flesh
when reality dives into the depths of dreams,
and the very second,
when the sun kisses the moon goodnight
as Nature holds its breath.

I am the snap among a rainbow of emotions,
when the mind swims in decision;
whether to shout to the heavens
or fill puddles under the feet.

I am the balance of truth
that you hold dear to your heart,
still holding the sum of imagination
for those things you have not found.

I am the shade between the minority,
the majority, the haves and the have nots;
a balanced hue that makes you wonder
why you have to take a side.

I am the line in the middle of the road,
the whispers in your ear,
a reflecting band of shadows
across a full or half-full glass.

I am the author of many words;
the bringer of countless lessons,
scales of choices,
blooms of beginnings
or falling swirls into nothingness.

A moment lies between light and dark,
a blink of the eye changes tomorrow’s outcome.
Nightmares rise up to terrify
just as fields of pleasure abound.

I am the oyster of the world
that has not been found,
the thread that ties all continents;
no matter the soil or parents,
senseless mind or grounded ideals.

Look into my eyes
and see the only thing that matters.
