Never forget those whom protect your freedom, we have given up more than just our lives.
I can see my reflection,
although broken by space,
the names of those, gone
but not forgotten, not
by their family.
I can see my reflection,
as I stare at the name that
is the same as my own,
but I am here to witness it, instead
of just a memory.
I can see my reflection, I am sad,
anguish for those who are immortalized,
forever in black granite,
for children to witness.
I can see my reflection,
but now it is blurry, the names have
begun to run.
My own tears begin, but not of sadness
I have served my colors, my tears
are of pride.
