someone oblivious that they're falling in love
A ROSE TAINTED CANVAS

An oblivious fool to the touch of the flesh
A complete unawareness to what’s clad in mesh
Totally blind to the fortitude of love’s fire
Failing to notice what is his utmost desire
By the time he sees the blaze the fuel will expire

But maybe a solitude ray could illuminate
Bring a shining hope to his passing fate
A simple bystander must yearn to ask
Was it something tainted in his flask?
Or does he see it an impossible task?

Well perhaps the boy will come to see
What lies under his nose, smelling sweetly
Cheek to cheek in a solid embrace
Hair brushing lightly against his face
Could he really be immune to such grace?

A friend, a foe, tell him what he feels
His heart is floored as his mind reels
Perhaps he does not perceive it as reality
Maybe he fears a mortal fatality
It’s all so unknown, such an uncertainty

Bring him a rose dear sweet charm
Let him know you mean him no costly harm
Tell him of the fondness growing in your heart
Let him know you wish not to be apart
Make it all such a lovely, wondrous new start
