how do you say goodbye?
Alive, I watched you become
something more than you had been.
Easily, I shared my Self with you.

A bright light of white-hot hope shone high in the darkness,
but it winked out again, in the blink of an eye.

Too soon! Too soon--you were lost to me.
I died a thousand deaths--
words of love sighing from my lips.

I sought true passion,
and succeeded in my search.
But if I had known my search was futile,
I never would have looked.

Your eyes mock me now, like crystal shards;
your photograph stares at me cruelly.
Get a life! it seems to say,
My soul curls up in a ball, consumed by emptiness.
