the present generation of Jewish children dealing with the holocaust. slightly revised
You killed Christ, he said
I was eight years old
I was sure I hadn't

Sometimes when winter comes early
you can write your name on car windows
Backwards, so passers-by can read it

In a Nazi children's book
with colorful illustrations
they called me
a poisonous mushroom
that must be removed
in order to save humanity

Counting back from six million to zero
is like ring-around-the-rosy
You get dizzy and fall down.
