dedicated to all those over seas and serving us.
Gunfire and fear for life all day long.
Thinking, am I doing what’s right or wrong?
Dying for people I have never met.
In the game of war my life is just a bet.
People die but we still move on in life,
As my platoon dies by way of the knife.
I hear gunfire shooting past my head,
Skin penetrated by one shot of lead.
I fall to the ground but guns still fire,
From loss of blood I begin to tire.
As the day moves on nobody finds me.
I start to wonder, how long will it be?
Begin to think of my family, my son,
Think I’ll never see them, for I am done.
Knowing that this next breath will be my last,
Hoping and wishing it will happen fast.
I pull out a picture of my dear wife,
Knowing we won’t meet again in this life.
With one last breath I kiss her good-bye,
She’s the last thing through my head, as I die.
