For Big Brother who worked hard to take care of us all.

Many moons ago I remember the day
I tried to get big brother to stay
Join me, play with me, it was just the start
I tried so hard to win over your heart

Wanting you to love me as much as I loved you
Include me in all those things you would do
Filled with curiosity about the paths you would walk
Hoping I would be the one with whom you could talk

Tell me about the things that interested you
When you grow up, what do you want to do?
Big brother walking away to ditch little sister
Looking over his shoulder he almost missed her

Little sister’s head hanging down to hide the tears
She could not let him see because of the fears
He would think her a baby, whiney and clinging
Unaware of the joy that he could be bringing

To the little sister who wanted some time
With big brother who’d already started to climb
The hill that would take him as far away
From the one who looked up at him that day

Hoped in her heart he would turn and see
She was still waiting patiently
For big brother to call her by his side
He must have seen the tears she cried

He never turned just went on his way
Little sister, he did not want to play
There were times that he would be gone awhile
He would need little sister to walk the mile

Go to check the traps that he'd laid
Bury the catch in the graves she made
Such joy she felt to do this deed
Help big brother in his time of need

Now those years have melted away
She feels those fears of yesterday
She looks up to him and hopes he will see
As she is today and forever will be
The little sister waiting for the day
He will look at her in the same way!!!!!!
