About little children who are homeless, orphaned or sick, not wanting to face reality.
An orphaned child cries alone,
For all the pain her little heart has felt
Left abandoned, now abused
She turns away, pretending to be held

A homeless boy sobs of hunger,
The dull ache stealing his life
Imagines that he's at a feast,
Not his father's sacrifice

Cancer taking over a little girl's form,
She lies in the hospital, fading
The words she wants so much to hear are not
"You'll never make it"
Instead, she pretends "The doctors were wrong, you have no disease!"

"It's alright, you'll get better now!"
Close your eyes and make believe
