My intention with this was a poem, but ended up more of a prose of sorts.
As she sheds her final tear, she remembers
the laughter which once was,
now replaced by a pyramid of fears,
of a future alone, of a future unknown.
A picture painted by events in the past, when
No one saw the sadness.
No one felt the pain.
No one heard the voices.
Her vision of a happier tomorrow
of all those she loved, and a life deserved
she can only hold safe in her heart.
It will never be, as her life slips painfully away.
Torturous nights, nightmares adding to her madness.
She was never good enough, they said in whispers, but loud enough to hear
Her life, a waste in their world of perfection,
was finally too much to bear.
And now,
There is no sadness.
There is no pain
There are no voices
And in the end,
She won’t need you to see
She won’t need you to feel
She won’t need you to hear
