About wishing someone could just hear you crying for their help
I know you won't believe it
Just like the other times
But you have to realise something:
I lied when I said I was fine.

You'll probably try to block it out
Wash it away with wine
Anything to make it go away:
I lied when I said I was fine.

You pretend your daughter's normal
A delusion on which you dine
A feast of denial - ignoring the words:
I lied when I said I was fine.

What will it take for you to believe?
Some sort of heavenly sign?
'Cause I don't know what will convince you:
I lied when I said I was fine.

You paint me in pretty colours
Not one of them truly mine
Trying to cover up the fact:
I lied when I said I was fine.

Now I know you'd never comprehend
How my life was on the line
But maybe now you'll finally see:
I lied when I said I was fine.
