An emotional piece from a letter I wrote at the end of a lengthy relationship.
It started as a light breeze
gently and softly calling out my name.
It beckoned me to come follow it
as the moonlight danced off the window.

I arose from my restless state of sleeping
and chased the wind through the night.
It frolicked through grassy fields
as if playing a childs game of tag.

I almost caught it once when suddenly
it took new direction and ran the other way.
Like you, playing with my mind and emotions.
It just smiled and blew out of my sight.

I returned to my place, weary from the chase.
What purpose was this wind, so bold and cunning.
I awoke at dawn, thinking back into the night.
When suddenly I knew...............

Like the wind, I too have changed
and now must go my own direction
leaving you far behind
farewell.
