From a child's perspective when their father leaves home.
Daddy's not coming home tonight
But no one will tell me why
I only want to know how come
All Mummy can do is cry

It's been tomorrow for a while now
And Daddy's not come home
It seems all Mummy can say to me
Is that she should've known

It's lunchtime and I'm hungry
I wish my Daddy was here
I don't think he'd be too happy
With Mummy throwing out his beer

Daddy'd better get back soon
His feet'll get cold without socks
Mummy's put them with all his clothes
In a big cardboard box

Daddy's working late tonight
But I bet he's doing just fine
Doing better than Mummy I expect
She's drunk a lot of wine

Next morning I was so happy
To see Daddy at the door
But I didn't really understand
He'd never knocked before

Daddy won't come home tonight
He told me and said goodbye
I wanted to ask but the words wouldn't come
All I could do was cry
