Saying goodbye to an old friend ...
Goodbye, my friend.
Now, you are gone.
I look back and remember
The happy days of old.
Those carefree days,
When we laughed together,
Shared jokes and anecdotes,
Had countless conversations.
We talked of many things.
You, the friendly, popular one,
And me, the shy, quiet one.
Our dialogue came so easily.

But now,
You are here no more.
The times we spent together
Are but memories, of long ago.
We cannot share again
Our joys, sorrows, laughter and fears.
The conversations have stopped.
Time has brought change.
You have new responsibilities,
New plans to make.
And all that we shared
Have faded into memory.
Snapshots from the past
Swirling in my mind.

Goodbye, my friend.
We may never meet again.
But, those precious memories,
I will cherish, forever.
