Life's perspective
Walking the Earth
by Vivian Gilbert Zabel

Once we breathe first air,
We begin a journey
Along a narrow path.
At times smiles and laughter
Bubble through the sunshine
As we enjoy life’s trail.
Yet, always, unknown, hide
Trials, tribulation, grief, and despair
In shadows along the way.
Sometimes we glimpse roses among
The thorns spread out by nature
While we hum love’s lyrics and laments:
Desire, heartache, pain, and joy.
From childhood, young and free,
We too quickly wane to timeworn age
When traveling in faith to the end.
