A walk to the main building at work, sometime in spring.

Rhythm and Reverie

I shifted the movement of my legs
until I reached the desired rhythm
of the clicking and clacking of my shoes.
A smile escaped from my freshly painted lips.

I glanced around
as I marched through the brick-lined covered walkway.
Cars of different makes, models and colors were everywhere
Candent flowers adorned the many magnolia trees
in their carefully planned spots.

Crape myrtles towered the landscape
with their showy clusters of flowers in various hues
while the caladium below displayed their richly colored foliage
patterned in green, white, red or pink.

A number of bees and other stinging insects
swarmed around the creamy, sweet-scented flowers
in the bushes along the path.
The emerald green sago palms commanded their own space
among the many other plants.

Up ahead, I saw an image of myself.
As I slowed down, I reflected on the morning walk
before opening the glass door of the building
I wanted to immerse myself into this moment of meditation a little longer
As I crossed the threshold,
I tried to recapture the rhythm of my steps
but now, the sound was only a voiceless music
I had entered a different world!
