I encountered the first person who was depressed as I was
Inside my skull my brain has gone numb;
I am well hidden from the glow of the sun.

Could I ever find love at a warm and bright beach?
Were the sky but dark cloudy, the cold wind, a screech

Threatened like this, the sky boiling black,
the middle of the night, I rest on my back.

And from the dark distance, to within my dark light
steps a dark-mooded girl, her inside like night.

she lays down there near me, down on the sand,
and with her warm fingers, embraces my hand.

Shadows of people, wrung out like towels;
‘tis good that no one hears our horrendous howls.

Is it peace that we seek? The balance of dawn?
Perhaps mid-day sun? I hate the sun gone.

Yet- dark is my keeper; dark is my day.
Yet- I hope against hope that this girl will stay.
