A poem written about new love and old love.
Spellbound

I want to break the silence
Of this love which has me spellbound
I want to equal all these feelings
Through words formed in ways
Never dripping from my mouth
I can tear you away from the picture frame
That has been built for you in my mind
But the home movies, the silent movies
With the same melodramatic actors
And the low-budget directors
And the over-used plots
Constantly repeat themselves, over and over, in my brain.

I have tried to wean myself
onto another costly addiction
I feel the relief of a new love
But the flame that burns in the heart
Which serves as a trigger to the emotional gun
Which is inconsistently shot into the subconscious
When lovers may or may not expect it
Has been extinguished
It has left the gun, a gun without a clip
The eyes without a soul
A love without honesty
And a lover without a heart.
