I picked a bud before it became a red rose.

Red Rose

I picked a special rose It was just a little bud.
Slowly it grew healthy with warmth of the sun.
Rain and mother earth nourished it as it grew.
On a bush with others this red bud grew too.

Hidden and protected by many sticky thorns.
God chose this rose as an angel, He adorned.
It bloomed and grew with pretty petals of red.
This rose is my wife, a freckled face redhead.

She is still that red rose I picked years ago.
Still like a lovely rose with petals that glow.
The freckles light her face with God's grace.
Each freckle's a kiss by an angel on her face.

Who God sent down to free her from a bud.
So He blessed my rose with His great love.
God knew she was already asked for in life.
This redheaded rose is now my loving wife.
