The downfall of Atlantis
A vast kingdom once lost
Sunk beneath the seas
Still lies here in ruins
Hidden amidst the weeds,

The civilization was strong
Advanced beyond their time
But they defied the gods
And committed an unforgivable crime

They became arrogant and conceited
Overly proud of their ways
They challenged the gods and did not know
That numbered were their days

It was a dark catastrophe
The day the sea rose
On that day the civilization crumbled
And a chapter in history closed

The gods were insulted
And summoned their ultimate power
The waves came crashing down
Taller than the highest tower

The kingdom sank promptly
Swamped beneath the seas
The gods closed their eyes
And turned away from the pleas

The people knew immediately
They had done something wrong
But to repent for their crimes
It would take an eternity too long

Things that once were
Now have faded and gone
The remains are diminishing
Like ripples in a pond

The kingdom would never rise again
To see the change in season
It is an immortal lesson
Of the price of divine treason
